Creating Post Thumbnails With WordPress Plugin And Inspiration

Have you ever wanted to add a thumbnail to blog posts to spice up your home page, without inserting extra custom fields or adding the image in with the text? Well there’s a great little plugin that is extremely customisable to make this very easy. You can change the dimensions, use simple CSS rules and much more. I have also included some popular websites that use post thumbnails for some inspiration!

Step 1

Hungred Post Thumbnail

First go ahead and download yourself a copy of the Hungred Post Thumbnail plugin.

Step 2

install-plugin

Next copy the folder into your ‘plugins directory‘. Then head over to your ‘plugins control panel‘ and activate ‘Hungred Post Thumbnail‘.

Step 3

You can then access the Hungred Post Thumbnail control panel where you can can edit the dimensions, colours, and simple css terms of the thumbnail to suit your preferences.

Step 4

Uploading A Thumbnail

Now you can head over to your posts and upload an image of the dimensions you set in the control panel to use as the thumbnail for that particular post.

    I hate to tell you things like this, but WordPress now supports this out-of-the box with the 2.9 release. Great post for an alternative though.
